KEEP THE HOME FIRES BURNING.

HARLOW THEATRE COMPANY.

November 2018

As part of the WW1 commemorations at High Wych Village Hall HTC created a piece of theatre for one night only.

'Keep The Home Fires Burning' presented a poignant portrayal of this brutal war that affected so many ordinary people across the country.

Interspersed with songs, the evening’s entertainment followed some humorous, poignant and tragic stories about soldiers and nurses at The Front, including an 18 year old Private Peaceful facing the firing squad and women in Accrington who were left at home to take up work and care for their families whilst knowing little about what was happening to their men in France - The Accrington Pals.

A packed hall in High Wych gave the cast a well-deserved standing ovation at the end of a moving tribute to those we lost and those who suffered.
