When the Theatre Company was founded, it was agreed that there would be a constitution written that would establish and clarify what the Company was about and what it strived to achieve. The main points are as follows and have not changed to this day...
1. To promote, improve, develop and maintain public interest in and appreciation of all aspects of theatrical performance, dance and music by the presentation of public performances, recitals, reviews and workshops and by such other ways as HTC, through it’s committee, shall from time to time determine;
2. To encourage individuals to undertake and maintain an active interest in and study dramatic performance and technical theatre production skills, to provide the opportunities for participation in public performance, and to cherish the excellence in all these aspects, by the establishment and maintenance of a programme of regular amateur theatrical productions, based at Victoria Hall Theatre and the Harlow Playhouse, and by such other ways as HTC, through it’s committee, shall from time to time determine;
3. To establish and maintain HTC as a focus point for amateur theatre in
4. To promote tolerance and understanding of diverse theatrical traditions and interests, to broaden theatrical attitudes and horizons, and to recognise and compliment the work of other associations with similar objects;
5. To foster and maintain good relations between HTC and the management of both the Victoria Hall Theatre and of the Harlow Playhouse.
