Richard III
written by William
Shakespeare
Harlow Theatre Company
is travelling back to the 1460's for it's next
production, with Shakespeare's most famous
anti-hero, Richard III.
The play begins at the end of the bloodiest war in
Britain's history, the English Civil War, where the
houses of York and Lancaster have been fighting for the
ultimate prize, the throne of England. The house of
Lancaster has been beaten, Edward the Fourth reigns and
a moment of peace is enjoyed across the land until
Edward falls ill. Once more envious eyes are sighted
upon the kingship, with loyalties split and intentions
revealed, as Richard struggles to keep England safe
from France, and more importantly a young Henry Tudor
who is ready to reclaim the throne in the name of
Lancaster.
Be prepared for a production lavish with costume and
music of the period, as Harlow Theatre Company retell
this classic tale of propaganda, power and war!
